When did you start brushing your baby's teeth?

My baby is 9 months old. I have been wiping his gums and teeth with a rag. I just bought him a toothbrush %26amp; toothpaste and wanted to start using it sometime soon.

Just curious to see what other mothers do:)

When did you start brushing your baby's teeth?
Wiping his gums and teeth with a rag is perfectly fine. You're not supposed to use actual toothpaste until they are able to understand to spit out the extra. Sometimes, we just wash out our daughter's mouth with a rag, sometimes I use the baby tooth cleaner stuff and the little finger toothbrush thingy that came with it.
Reply:I suggest starting as soon as they have teeth come in. It is good to get them used to it.

I used a brush that fits over your finger for my second child and that worked really well until she starting biting me.
Reply:has soon as he as teeth that can be brushed like two at the top two at the bottom.makee sure it isnt a rough brush.
Reply:As long as it's an infant/toddler one, then go for it. They have a rubber one that you can put on your finger tips by Gerber that I used. It was the only thing that I can shove in my daughters mouth.
Reply:I did as soon as the teeth came in.
Reply:As soon as my little one got her first tooth, we started brushing her teeth every morning and night. We use a toothbrush designed for babies and the Baby Orgel toothpaste (also just for babies - only just a teeny dab). She really likes it and it is starting a healthy habit.
Reply:As soon as my son's teeth started to come in (he had 4 teeth by the time he was 4 months :P) I started to brush them. Baby Orajel makes 2 really nice little kits you can get. It usually comes with baby safe to swallow toothpaste with no floride (you don't want to use floride toothpaste untill they are at least 2), a toothbrush, and sometimes a teething toy.
Reply:Brushing is perfectly safe at this age. We bought the flouride free toothpaste for our babies (since its safe to swallow) and the baby soft bristle toothbrush. Now they're toddlers and each have a mouthfull of white and healthy teeth!
Reply:that's all i did until after his yr dr app. my doc told me to brush his teeth everyday with a floride toothpaste but to only use a very tiny amount. i use less than the size of a pea and crest has a yummy flavored one my baby loves. he knows that mommy brushes his teeth first, get he gets a turn while i'm brushing mine.
Reply:ive been doing my sons since b4he had teeth. i got a finger brush with massage bumps on the other side. i used it to help his gums and to get him use to me brushing them. hes 9 mo and i brush his teeth and gums everyday.
Reply:I did as soon as they got teeth! At first I just used the baby oragel on a cloth when he got a couple in a row I used a tooth brush.I'm neurotic about teeth! Lol
