Do domestic cats have "baby teeth"?

My nine-month old's teeth look a little funny, almost like he has duplicate teeth.

A cat has 26 baby teeth which they get at 4 weeks of age and 30 permanent teeth which start coming in at 11 weeks. At 30 weeks, (little over 6mo.) cat should have all adult teeth.


By now your cat should have lost all his baby teeth and have the adult teeth. Is he eating his food OK? If he does not seem to have pain, I would let it go and ask at the next vet visit. If he is in pain, take to vet. There is no such thing as "braces" for cats with tooth problems but if some of the baby teeth didn't fall out, the vet may pull them.
Reply:Yes they do, my cat when she was a kitten lost her baby teeth, also another cat I had did the same. The baby teeth are known as Deciduous

Reply:uuuuuuuuummmmmmmmm...Yes on the Baby teeth, but I am wondering if the cat possibly has a genetic tooth disorder, depending what U mean by duplicate. Overlapping teeth, e.g.... are not normal, in which case U mite want to check with a vet.

Kittens lose their baby teeth!! At three to four months the incisors erupt. Then at four to six months, they lose their canines, premolars and molars. By the time they are seven months old, their adult teeth are fully developed. This is one of the ways a vet (or you) can tell the age of a kitten.

Reply:Yes, they do. The "double teeth" thing is probably his fang teeth. When the adult teeth start to come in, they push the baby teeth out of the gums. For a while, it looks like they have 2 fang teeth, one behind the other. This is totally normal. If they stay that way, or it seems to cause a problem with the cats eating habits, take him to a vet.
Reply:Yes, they do. In puppies and kittens they are usually called "milk teeth'.
Reply:yes I still keep my old cats teeth .. although they usually swallow them or what ever but I managed to pick 2 out of the 4 ..
