Baby teeth at a year old?

My son is 1 year and still has NO teeth. Due to insurance issues we wont be able to get in for his 1 year check until after October 1st. Is this normal or should I be worried? All the babys his age have 4-8 teeth some even have their molars! I was wondering if any other moms have had a toothless wonder like me? He is above adverage or normal in every other developmental stage.

Baby teeth at a year old?
I personally didn't have that problem with my kids. But i am a retie rd registered dental assistant and sometimes some kids had a thick bone,or in some cases the gums stretched as far as the tooth pushed. In that case we cut the gums and made a way for the tooth to come out.but your baby has something else going on.look in his mouth and see if the gams are swollen. If they are that means they are right there, just need more time.Like i said the bone is stronger than teeth. One thing i never saw or heard is toothless baby.Don't worry. He'll be biting you before you know it.
Reply:no worries. some babies get their teeth a bit later.

they will be coming in soon.
Reply:my daughter was the same way...And now she has beautiful teeth. She is 9 now with no cavities,,, Don't worry the teeth are in her gums...Their just taking a little longer to cut through..All is well , I promise
Reply:Don't worry..it is normal. Always remember that children develop differently and just because some get teeth before their first birthday, there is nothing wrong with it taking a little longer. When they start coming in, it will probably be fast. I have 4 kids and only one of them had teeth by their first birthday.
Reply:i think he'll be fine!! be glad, my 9 month old bites me and everything else every chance he gets :)!!!
Reply:My daughter didn't get her first tooth until she was 11 months. Her second tooth came when she was 15 months. It just depends on the baby. It doesn't mean anything, but that you have to keep giving him soft foods until he does get some teeth!!

Good Luck!
Reply:He's probably fine. My brother didn't get his till much later.
Reply:teething late is healthier
Reply:You can ask your babes doctor also. They know alot about babies bodies, not jus the dentist. Just give them a call. But I wouldn't worry. Teeth are there.
Reply:I've known babies on both end of the spectrum...for example my cousin was born with a tooth but my own son didn't get his first tooth until he was 10 months old. It is all very normal so don't worry either way!
Reply:Don't sweat it. All kids (my wife and I have 4) develop differently in EVERY aspect. Some talk sooner, walk sooner, take to potty training faster, and the teeth are always a crap shoot as well. Don't worry about it. Unfortunately, worrying about things is what we parents do best, and tend we to dwell on very small fragments of time in the grand scheme of things.
Reply:my 2 nieces and my nephew had no teeth until after they were 1, so its normal. Just give it time. You should be happy lol!! IT SUCKS!!
Reply:Ask my doctor the same question, he said its better when they get teeth later because less chance of "baby bottle mouth" or rather cavities from the milk laying in their mouth.
Reply:don't worry. My son was 1 before he got teeth, and he got like 10 at once. Just ask about it when you take him to the doctor. No need to worry beforehand. They say the longer children don't get their teeth, the healthier they are when they come in (more time to develop, less time to rott)

Good luck! :)
Reply:my son just started getting teeth at his first birthday. he doctor told me that their teeth are healthier if they come in later
Reply:not to worry coz i have the same problem..my baby is 11 month old..no signs of getting teeth..so i went to doctor...so she said its normal up to 15 months...so dont worry ...ok..
Reply:Try to give him some biscuit for baby growing teeth. It will help him exercise his gum and expedite the process of teeth growing.
Reply:My niece was 12 months when she had her first toothe break through the gum line, The denstist say the older a baby is when they get thier teeth the better and straighter they will be and less likely to have braces. Give him a little bit more time MOM. unlike my 3 kids all of them had 6 teeth by the time they were 6 months old, not a good sign. good luck
Reply:My dentist told me that the later they get their baby teeth the better. This is because getting baby teeth later means getting adult teeth later (and vice versa). The later a child gets their adult teeth, the larger and more developed their jaw is (so straighter teeth as there is more room) and the less chance of cavities as they are better able to look after their teeth.

So my dentist would be absolutely thrilled that your 12mo doesn't have any teeth yet. And anyway, live up the fact that you don't have to worry about keeping them clean yet! They'll come in time.
Reply:Babies develop at their own pace. You should not be concerned yet, especially since you can feel that there are teeth there. I cannot imagine any doctor willing to cut his gums at this stage, and you should not worry about it. It is not a competetion with the other kids, and as parents it is hard for us to remember this, but please try to!
Reply:i had only two teeth right after turning one years old.......and i have ended up with very nice teeth i haven't had braces and have only had 2 fillings and im 22 now
Reply:he will be just fine :) i's just like everything else with babies...they grow at their own rate---my sister as a baby had no teeth til 14 months and siome kids have a mouthful at 1. my 8 month old doesn't want to sit and i'm not worried a bit :) take care!
Reply:you shouldn't be worried, my ddaughter didn;t have any teeth or start walking until she turned a year old and it all happend at once. All kids develop in diffent stages. my oldest was walking at 10 months and had most of his teeth. so no need to be worried. but watch out when the come in!!! They will start popping out like popcorn. Good luck!!!
Reply:dont worry hun, my daughter is 14 months old and finally is teething, her doctor said that its normal and at 15 months old if babies dont have teeth they do xrays and such but she said she has never had to do that ever in her 20 something yrs of being a doctor. dont worry they will come and my duaghter does everything she should and more so teeth have nothing to do with mental development in any way. just wait it out like im doing. and be thankful that when he bites u it doesnt hurt as much as those other babies his age with alota teeth. My husbands baby brother turned one in may and he has every tooth except 4 so eveyr baby is different
