Hi there, my daughter (8 1/2 months) has 6 teeth,3 top and 3 bottom. The bottom ones look just fine but between the front top ones there is a huge gap (almost to fit another one or two teeth). Is that any indication of how her second teeth will look like when they come? Thanks Klara
Baby teeth question?
It is actually a very good thing that she has that space. Teeth that come in really close together are indication that the mouth is crowded. Adult teeth are larger than baby teeth and will take up more space when they come in. So, if the baby teeth are really close together then the adult teeth may come in crooked. When your daughter turns one take her to see a peidatric dentist if you are really concerned or just curious. But, I think that it is better to wait until they are 3 years old to see a dentist unless there are problems with decay and such. They will be a little more mature and may be a little more cooperative! Just make sure that you clean your baby's teeth at least once a day, but preferably twice.
Reply:My son has a gap between the 2 top front teeth! But im not worried about it... Once all his teeth come in they will push the 2 top front ones together! Dont worry about it.. your daughters teeth are fine!
Reply:I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's only her baby teeth, and she's got a lot more on the way. The more teeth that come in the more room she'll need to the gap should get smaller. If you are really concerned about it feel free to talk to your doctor or even take her to see a dentist.
Reply:Baby teeth are much smaller than adult sized teeth, and having a gap, actually lots of gaps between most of the front teeth is very normal, and does not indicate how the secondary teeth will look. Just remember, when she's older do not pull wiggly teeth from her mouth until they look like blowing bubbles would cause them to fall to the floor... the primary teeth help guide the secondary into place. Good luck! :)
Reply:They may squish together, or they may not. Also it may not be her middle teeth that have come in. Just because "most" babies get the middle teeth first doesn't mean all do.
Reply:Normally gaps close in on their own as other teeth come in. My son had a gap that closed - he is 13 months old and it just closed within that last month or so and it was pretty big too.
Reply:I don't have a clue, but you are lucky your daughter has teeth at all! My daughter is 8 months old and has NO teeth at all yet.
