Is it normal for a baby to teeth for months at a time without getting teeth?

my baby is 7 mos old and has been teething since she was 3-4 mos and has not gotten any teeth. they really bother her and i have had to give her medicine this entire time to help her through. is there anything i can do? i've tried-all the meds, cold things everything!

Is it normal for a baby to teeth for months at a time without getting teeth?
Sure, its no big deal. Its way more common than you think. I have a 9 month old right now that has been teething since 3 months, he has 2 on the bottom, but he still teeths everywhere else. Part of the process is that the bone structure hardens and extends out beneath her gums and it is painful and kind of "itches" maybe thats a bad word, but you know what I mean. So you can probably expect to see several teeth come out in rapid succession. Nothing to worry about.
Reply:Why not ask your doctor. They are trained in this kind of thing.
Reply:speak to your pediatrician but it is ok
Reply:yes, it is very very common. I have heard though, that orajel actually hardens the gums making it harder for teeth to cut through. It is common what she's doing though, I would strongly recommend the teething tablets that dissolve in their mouth, it is what I use.
Reply:I have 3 sons and the first 2 didnt get theirs until they were 8 or 9 months and then my 3rd didnt get his until he was almost a year old! Its normal.
Reply:okay well excuse me, teething hooker! I am just saying, when it comes to your kids why do you get on here to ask a question about your child's health? you dont know me, so dont you dare message me and tell me that crap. get a friggin life, idiot.
Reply:are you absolutely sure she is teething, maybe ask a pediatrician. it could be something else
Reply:Your baby's teeth WILL come in, maybe not straight or the way you want, but my daughter's ped said that she has never seen or heard of a case of a child not getting their teeth, just be patient.
Reply:There is nothing else you can do but try to ease her discomfort %26amp; wait. My son started teething at 3 mo and his bottom teeth broke through the day he turned 5 mo. His top teeth have been erupting since then and his gums have turned black %26amp; blue. I'm still waiting on them to break through. He is 6 mo old now. He is miserable! I alternate tylenol and ibuprofen and give him teething tablets or orajel. It sucks, but they will come through eventually.
Reply:Yes this is normal. My son as an infant drooled and drooled. I can't tell you how many bibs and changes of clothes he went through!
Reply:My son started teething at three months, he didn't get his first tooth until he was 11 months. I have no idea why.
Reply:I work for a dr.'s office and teething tablets are not recommended by our doctors. there is something called bella donna in the tablet which is given to women with menstrual cramps. On the label it doesn't even say how much is in the tablet or how often to give them. I personally don't like giving my 10 month old med's all the time but I found that the motrin and tylonel rotation works best. and also a wet face rag-she loves to chew on it it soothes her gums and she plays with it. Hope this helps
Reply:Yes my daughter started teething when she was 4 months but she didn't get any teeth until she was about 6 or 7 months. Rub some whiskey on her gums.
Reply:My son did the same thing. He didn't really fuss though he was a constant drool machine. They will come in due time.
Reply:I know it is normal for teeth to come up and go down many times before breaking through the gums, but this seems like way to long. You should probably ask your doctor about it at your childs next Well Check.
Reply:yes
