How much does it cost to get your dogs baby teeth extracted?

I have a chiuahuah and this morning i took him to the vet to get his baby teeth extracted. He is one year old and still hasnt lost them all so the vet said it would be better to get them taken out. Im wondering how much it would cost and if he needs to eat special soft food for a few days or what. If you have had this happen to your dog, please give me some details. Thanks

It would depend on the vet you go to. They have to put the animal under anesthesia to do it and that can get costly. I%26#039;ve worked with vets that cost $200 for a simple dental and thats mainly because of drug costs. So I%26#039;d ask local vets what they charged.

You should really be asking a vet these questions because you aren%26#039;t going to get exact answers to your problems on here. A vet is the only person who can tell you costs and what kind of food they need after the extraction.
Reply:it cost my dog 30 dollars.good luck.
Reply:Why didn%26#039;t you ask your vet?
Reply:he won%26#039;t need special food ..,..yorkies are like that also and it%26#039;s totally normal...it%26#039;s 7 dollars a tooth plus anistisha....i breed yorkies and their canines take forever to come out and the new ones are already there so i have them pulled also.good luck...he will be fine
Reply:I promise I am not picking on you, so don%26#039;t take this wrong. It seems to me that while Vets are very important, some of them take advantage of pet owners, just for the extra $$ they can get out of we gullible people.

Dogs do not usually need baby teeth pulled. Just like people -actually more so than people, a dog%26#039;s teeth follows a complete natural order of things. The Baby teeth will come out on their own in their own time. Functionality is whats important, not picture perfect fashion model gleam and straightness, Less than rarely does a dog%26#039;s teeth ever grow in abnormally.

Unless your dog is a show dog and demands that extra pampering for Judges - don%26#039;t put your dog through being knocked out with drugs just for its baby teeth extraction.

I love dogs (and cats) so I would not tell you something that would endanger your pet. The only time a pet should be knocked out with drugs is for life saving (or potentially life saving) surgery. Vets will snag every dollar they can out of you even insisting you buy THEIR preferred brand from THEM when there are pet foods of equal benefit sitting in the pet stores and supermarkets at a lesser price.
Reply:Should cost under $50 total. No special food necessary.
Reply:If you were at your vet, why didn%26#039;t you ask the receptionist to give you an estimate of the procedure. They would have been able to give you detailed information on the price and aftercare.

Different areas, different vets charge different prices. Call them and ask them and you will have exact information.
Reply:Ask the vet !
Reply:i didnt know that dogs lost their teeth like humans do
