Can i still get braces if i have baby teeth?

so, i`m going to the orthodontist next week %26amp; i`m wondering if i can still get braces if i have baby teeth.





idk if i was ready for braces or not, but im scheduled to go next week.





will they make me wait until the baby teeth are gone? or will they put it on anywayyss OR will they pull it out?

***yes u can get braces if u havce baby teeth, i got braces and when i got them i had only lost 6 baby teeth then, i lost most of em while i had my braces on





***pink and light blue are cute colors





***NEVER get white or clear bands cause white looks like food is stuck in ur braces and clear like it u eat ketchup or a lollipop or somethin, they stain





***they put the bands, and then every time u go back u get to choose new colors

i have gotton em on over 6 times (dont ask!)





it doesnt hurt dont worry-it is just a long process and it tastes kinda bad





they give u a band on ur molars fiist, to see ur size and stuff





first theu put this positioner thing is ur mouth, it makes your mouth stretch a lkot so they can see ur teeth, it will bother u for a minute or 2 but u will get used to it, u keep that thing on the WHOLE time





then there are these things that look like shots and stuff, i got really freaked out when i first saw them but actually, they dont go in ur mouth! this is the cement that they put on ur braces then they stick the braces on ur teeth


**the cement kinda tastes bad!





then they will put the rubber bands on ur braces with things that look like sisscors (they dont hurt) after that they put the wire-this is the most anoying part cause after they slip it in ur mouth, they have to cut it to make it fit right





then that is it!Ur done


but after u do it, ask ur doctor for dental wax, and rubber cover up





when u get home use ACT mouthwash and for the first hour, ur teeth may be a little numb so drink mainly fluids-clear fluids





then for the first day or 2 ur teeth may be a little sensitive so stick with eating soup, pasta, and soft foods-avoid straws





every night use Peroxyl mouthwash for like a week to keep ur gums storng from cuts and use dental wax and rubber coverups so u wont get blisters, they hurt a little but arent that bad. avoid sleeping on ur side, try to keep ur head straight up for a couple of days





every morning and every night use the Peroxyl mouthwash again for 2 weeks then after that just use ACT mouthwash to keep ur teeth and gum s healthy. get some Super floss, made for braces-i sugest elictrical toothbrushes they keep ur mouth cleaner





dont worry-trust me- i have had my braces on for almost 4 years, i am gettin em off on July 3-my friend says it acutally hurts more to get em off so yea

Reply:i think u have to wait, no point putting braces on while those teeth will fall out anyways. they may end up pulling them out and waiting for ur adult teeth.


all i know is u cant get them whilst still having baby teeth, i know cause i still have my 12 yr old molars that havent fallen out but i do have my adult ones, in order fro me to get my teeth fixed i have to get 4 teeth pulled!!!
Reply:about 99% of the time they won%26#039;t put braces on baby teeth, so they just make you wait. :[ my friend%26#039;s been waiting for a really long time for her braces cause she still needs some baby teeth to grow in. orthodontists don%26#039;t pull teeth themselves, so don%26#039;t worry. :]

Reply:what most of them do is put the braces on and when one of your baby teeth is loose then they take the bracket off of that tooth and let it fall out and once there it another tooth to take the place then they put the bracket back on....





im pretty shure of this because ive had braces and still do on my bottom teeth and that happened to one of my close friends
Reply:It depends on your orthodontist. I have had a friend who got her braces on in second grade, with a mouthful of baby teeth. She had a loose tooth, and they had to take the braces off until it fell out. I have also known some other people who have had to wait a few years, or get theirs pulled out. I only had to get teeth pulled because I needed more room in my mouth for braces, and one tooth wouldn%26#039;t naturally come out. I would wait until you are comfortable getting braces. If you feel that losing baby teeth will mess up your braces plan, making you have to pay more and wear them longer, then wait. If you do not feel that, or you have other reasons as to get them on now, go for it! I would personally advise you to wait until you have few baby teeth. Talk to your dentist and orthodontist, and see what they suggest. Good luck!

wht thy do is tht if thy are in the back to the front teeth the dont attack them yet u can get thm and whn thy fall thy will attach the bars to ure teeth








ps unforntinatly for me i have such a bad over bite tht thy had to yank out 6 teeth at once
Reply:In my experience they%26#039;ve almost never put braces on baby teeth, mostly because they fall out, and the perms havent come in yet. My friends a dentist...and really you cant put braces on baby%26#039;s its pointless, they re not your perms, and if they did, once the permanent teeth come in they could reshape your mouth voiding it out....but that%26#039;s only if you have alot of babes left. My nephew on the other hand had one baby tooth, and they just pulled it out, and waited for the perm to grow in. If you have babes, then your most likely not ready for braces...Hun, you might not even need braces, ask your parent of guardian, why you have an appointment, when you have baby teeth, because it might be just to see if you%26#039;ll need them at all. That%26#039;s what happened to me!!

Reply:i just got braces yesterday ( 7-25-07) and i have baby teeth in and i have new teeth coming in and it%26#039;s ok they just put the bracket on the very top.
Reply:yes i did!! and you probably can.. i got my first set when i was 7 but it was just the four top teeth.. but those were adult... but tthen i got my second set*full set* and june 06... and i still have them in and i have about 4 baby teeth left and i lost a lot of them during havin braces... but i had to hav several teeth pulled out becasue i hav teeth growin every wich way





by the way is this ur first trip to the orthodontist?? if so ur probably going to get checked up and and a month of two ull get braces if it isnt ur first trip then i dunno haha good luck

My little sister who is 9 yrs old will be getting braces when her adult teeth grows out but for right now, the dentist puts in this %26quot;other%26quot; kind of braces, I don%26#039;t know what its called but its metal and sits behind her front roll teeth. It covers the roof of her mouth also. (Kinda like a metal retainer) I believe it is to push her teeth out more? But thats what she have to wear for now until all her adult teeth (which are the back ones) grows out.





You can hardly tell she has them except sometimes she can%26#039;t speak clearly.
Reply:It just depends on how bad your teeth are. My son had them put on at 10 and he still has baby teeth he%26#039;s losing. He has to go through 2 phases. He got them off earlier this year and got a permanent retainer put in behind his top teeth. In two years he will have to get a full set of braces again. He had a cross bite and it was causing his bottom front tooth to protrude from the gum. So yes they do put them on even with baby teeth.
Reply:It all depends on how many baby teeth you have. I still had a few when I got my braces. Many people only get braces on their two front teeth to start, becasue they still have baby teeth.
Reply:Yes, I got braces on when I still had quite a few baby teeth however you wont get braces to fix baby teeth only if you have problemed adult teeth - so the braces will go on to fix them. Its perfectly safe but if you have a wiggly tooth it is likely that will yet pulled before but unless you have special circumstances you wont yet baby teeth pulled. It is possibly they may wait for all you baby teeth to be gone if you only have like one left and it is due to fall out soon but probably not otherwise.
