My son is 11 1/2 and has lost 5-6 teeth in the last month, I am not sure if he is doing this intentionally or what but it seems as if he is doing it on purpose?????

Unless he's taking a pair of plyers to his molars... what do you mean he's doing it intentionally? They stop losing their baby teeth when they have all fallen out, every last one. If he's been slow to lose them, they may be coming out quickly because his adult teeth are demanding the room. Are there adult teeth coming in to replace them? If there are, he's fine. IF NOT, then he needs to have an exam, because there could be an underlying medical reason.

Reply:I was a in the eleventh grade when the last of my baby teeth came out. My youngest boy will be 14 and he's only lost about eight of his baby teeth. The other children were also later than most others. I don't see how your son could be causing his teeth to loosen up and be pulled on his own.
Reply:It depends on the child. When I was twelve all my friends had lost their baby teeth years ago while I still had three or four left. I lost them though throughout the course of the seventh grade, it took them a while to grow in though. I had to walk around with three gaping holes where my eye teeth should have been!

My kittens are both 5 months, and I was just wondering. We noticed in the past month or so most of their teeth were missing, but I don't think all have fallen out, such as their fangs [do they fall out?]

Generally speaking, your baby molars will not stand up to the forces of you chewing for your entire adult life. They usually don't have the root system that your adult teeth would have. If you have your adult molars, then the baby teeth that are still there will probably be ok-You do not get adult molars in the same space that your baby molars are in. The adult ones come in behnd the baby molars.

Are german shepards done growing after loosing the baby teeth?
Just adopted a GS mix. His age is unknown and the vet said all of his adult teeth are present. The vet also said the teeth are still small. Does that mean he is still growing? I am curious how big he is going to be, right now he is large as my full grown lab. He has big, huge paws! He is kind of shy, timid also. Any ideas?

Is there an easy way to check for emerging baby teeth?
My daughter is almost 9 months old. She got her first two bottom teeth at exactly 7 months and has not gotten any more since then. Both bottom teeth came within two days of eachother. She has been fussy and waking at night and I'm wondering if her top two teeth are coming in. Does anyone have any tricks for checking her gums? She's quite the squirmer and even my husband and I have a difficult time trying to check together....between her tongue thrusting forward and her moving her head all over the place, we've given up looking. I know of the 'spoon trick' but that only works once they're in. I was able to see the bottom two before they broke through but the top are much harder to see. Any suggestions?

My son just turned four in August, and he just came to me saying that he feels like his tooth is moving and is going to fall out. It's the one on top on the right side, and it does feel a little bit wobbly but not to much. and does it make a difference at what age their teeth came in? His came in at 8 months? He was also born with cleft palate. I don't know if that would matter.

Ones not really loose and the other is the same.Ones on the top left the others on my sis's top right.There both getting pulled out beacause theres a tooth growing in and it has no where to grow.The dentist is putting gel on my sis's gum so she dont feel it and then a needle.Will the needle hurt?Will both of the teeth hurt when they get pulled out?Shes only ten.And please if your a dentist tell me how it will feel bcuz she does not want someone to say IT DOESEN HURT just cuz they dont wanna scare her.Thank you for reading and hopefully answering.

She will probably feel some pressure or pushing, but the roots of the baby teeth are fairly short and that usually makes them quick and easy to remove. She should bring her IPOD to listen to and do her best to relax. She is in good qualified hands!

Is my kitten losing his baby teeth?
Tonight my kitten started sticking out his tongue and it made this grinding noise like teeth. He drive heaved when I put my finger in his mouth to make sure he didnt have something stuck in there and there was blood. He is about 6-7 months. Could he possibly be teething? He doesn't seem to be in any pain. He is still playing just looks like something is bothering his mouth.

For people who've had the procedure, how long does it usually take for the chain to bring the adult tooth down. I'm trying to decide on a date to do it on, and I really want to do it in time so I won't have missing teeth when school starts again!

My 6 year old daughter has lost two baby teeth,?
and the grown-up teeth have come in for both of them. But now the second grown-up tooth is loose. Has anyone had this happen? I called our dental clinic and will take her in for sick-call first thing on Monday but was wondering if this has happened to anyone elses child. She has no cavities or decay whatsoever on any of her teeth, and no gum problems, and I take her for her regular dental check-ups. She doesn't go around eating candy all the time and only drinks milk or water so I don't think we're doing anything that would harm her teeth. I'm so distressed by this, it's a brand new tooth!

It depends on the size and breed of the dog but they do lose every tooth and the molars are usually the last to go, but also the most uncomfortable for you puppy. My suggestion, take a clean towel or wash cloth and run it under water, then place it in the freezer for 15-30 minutes and give it to your puppy. The rag is "chewy" and the ice helps to numb the gums through this transition. Good luck!!

My cat lost a tooth yesterday one this morning and she is starting to bleed again from her teeth (which means another one is going to fall out) I called the vet before she started to bleed, and told them that she lost one yesterday and another one today and she said it was fine, but now she is bleeding again from her teeth. Is this normal should I call again and ask or take her to the vet?

This is fine. I think my cat lost 3 teeth in 24 hours. It's so hard to keep up with it. As long as she isn't uncomfortable, I wouldn't worry. If she is uncomfortable, she will be pawing at her mouth. There is no need to worry unless she continues for several hours, then you should check to see if any teeth are just hanging on and she needs help pulling them out. I pulled two or three teeth from my cat and the vet pulled one. They were just hanging loose and she couldn't get them out by herself. I just reached in and pulled them out like I would a child's loose tooth. No problem. A little bit of blood then it was over.
Reply:Sounds normal. They lose their teeth a lot quicker than we do - everything in proportion remember, considering their lives are only a fifth the length of ours! It only takes them two months to lose all their teeth. If you are worried though, feel free to call the vet back - don't rely on advice from Yahoo!

My son's baby teeth are coming in with an underbite. Could this correct itself?
He has the cutest smile but his top teeth are behind the bottom ones! Is it possible this may correct itself, or will he grow up to have an underbite? Dentists and experienced moms only. Please no guesses, I have plenty of those myself!

Before you panic, such procedures are common and predictable. Simply schedule a routine orthodontic visit or a visit with your general dentist. Without seeing the child and knowing specifics, it is impossible to diagnose. Good luck.

Your son sounds like he will be ok to me, a child of that age is growing all the time and who knows what his teeth will look like in another 6-12 months as his jaw slowly grows, remember his teeth wont! :)
My guess is keep an eye on him as a dentist doesn't look at children's teeth until they are about 3 or 4 yrs old (unless they have decay)
And it will be when he is 11 or 12 before a brace will do any good as this is when they get a great growth spurt. Try not to worry, I know what us mums are like!

They are never to young for this, with all the new technoligies they have lots of preventive procedures to offer that will help make things easier when it is time for braces. My son's teeth are very bad and he has been going for preventive measures for a year now and he is only 8. Plus I am a Dental Assistant and I see this stuff everyday. He will be fine but by getting him the preventive treatment while he is growing is the best way. As an adult that is done growing they can not do much for these situations, but for a child that is growing they can open things up and stretch things out.Good Luck.

Any home remedy for pulling out baby teeth from a dog that never lost them?
my vet wants to charge me $10 per tooth plus anesthesia and blood work.

Usually you just have them pulled when you alter your dog or have a regular dental done rather than having a special surgery for them. I would encourage her to play with any chew toys, especially play tug. And encourage her to eat milk bones.
Also, you didn't give an age. If she is still under a year, she may loose them herself. If not, take her for a regular dental at age one or two and your vet will pull them when he cleans the teeth.
Reply:your pup has been thru the worst of his chewing phase and the teeth still did not come out so i think you should go with the vet. the teeth really should come out and this is just one of those unexpected costs that arise when you take on the care of another living creature.

If it is not a molar they should come out in time anyways. Feed him only dry food so he has to chew more. But 10 per tooth is not that bad. If he is just under a year old it is not a real big deal. He can live w/extra teeth but it could cause problems later on in life.

By the way, don't feel guilty if you're not getting him neutered. There are just as many risks associated with neutering as there are with not neutering, if not more. As long as you are responsible, you can manage an unneutered dog just fine.
Reply:Our vet extracted our Pug's baby teeth when they neutered him ... they also gave us his baby teeth =} I can tell you that the teeth I looked at were very fragile, so I'm not sure how wise it would be to have your dog chew on something to hope they come out that way.

By the way, don't feel guilty if you're not getting him neutered. There are just as many risks associated with neutering as there are with not neutering, if not more. As long as you are responsible, you can manage an unneutered dog just fine.
Reply:Our vet extracted our Pug's baby teeth when they neutered him ... they also gave us his baby teeth =} I can tell you that the teeth I looked at were very fragile, so I'm not sure how wise it would be to have your dog chew on something to hope they come out that way.

My son is 11 months, and is getting sick and tired of gerber foods. but here is my dilema, i will give him some of the food i am eating, he does fine with it, however when his daddy gives him food 7 out of 10 times he will choke on it... and it is scary. Since your child only chokes when the father feeds him, maybe daddy is giving him too large of a bite. Bites should be very small.

I also baked butternut squash or sweet potatoes and mashed that. My friend's child ate a lot of oatmeal (my daughter still doesn't like it). My daughter had some lightly toasted bread or well-cooked rice for her carbs. You can also find cereals that can melt in his mouth (Graduates) and then move on to Cheerios. For protein, she ate scrambled or sunny-side-up eggs or ground meatloaf/meatballs. I disagree that you can give them harder foods like noodles or sausage without the teeth, unless you plan to ground it or make it very very small. Maybe you can just dice up pasta very small if he seems to really like it. It took a lot of reminders and training to get my daughter to chew--now (at 2) she's a slow eater, making sure it's all chewed up. There are some books like Mommy Made and Daddy, Too! that can give you an idea of foods you can make for the whole family. You just want to be careful about a baby's sodium or sugar intake if they're eating your same food. If your husband is feeding him too quickly or isn't chopping up the food (men don't have a motherly instinct), then I guess you need to take the reigns and cut up the food or prepare his plate separately for him.

There cool you can put all kinds of food in them and the chew on the mesh and it gets the food out. They're also really good for teething if you put frozen fruits or ice in them.

How to brush baby teeth?
Our 11-mo old has 5 teeth now %26amp; we've heard we need to start brushing teeth. But he refuses, he clamps his mouth shut %26amp; it's pointless to pry it open. I think the only thing we can do is keep trying every few weeks, don't pry open his mouth, and when he eventually is able to speak %26amp; understand us then maybe we can start then even if he's 3 yrs old then. Is this OK?
How to brush baby teeth?
My son is 12 months and sometimes he clamps down when I try to brush his teeth.
To help with this problem, I have been showing him how I brush my teeth and then brush his. I also let him hold the toothbrush. If he plain just refuses to let me anywhere near his teeth, I take a washcloth and rub his gums and teeth down with water and we try the next time around with the toothbrush. In most cases he will let me use a washcloth.
I was using the oragel brand where you put it on your finger but with him, he has 6 teeth and he was biting me...so we quit that one and went to a toddler toothbrush.
I would say give it a try everyday, especially right before bed to prevent cavities. The more you do it, the more it becomes routine, and the more he will begin to accept it.
If that does not work, the next time you have a dental checkup ask to bring in your son. They can look at his teeth and give you tips on how to clean his teeth.
I would not wait on this one. Dental health is very important. I saw many kids, mostly kids on the bottle too long that had capped teeth or rotten teeth. It was terrible. Some had problems with speech and eating, while others where embarrassed by their lack of teeth when they entered school. Baby teeth lay a foundation for permanent teeth. I do not want to scare you, and in reality missing a brushing here and there probably won't cause major problems, but I would start a good routine of brushing.

Once they get a bit bigger and you can reason with them (kinda) try taking turns. He brushes, then you brush his teeth...back and forth. At this point make sure you try every day to get him used to the idea...it'll come. My three year old is pretty good about brushing, and we did the same thing with her.
Next time you're at the dentist, ask for their advice on helping him learn.

We bought several different cute tooth brushes, purchased some yummy flavored toothpaste, let out little guy pick out his toothbrush, sat him down and let him brush his own teeth. Once he is comfortable with the tooth brush he might let you teach him how to brush his teeth. Also, brush your teeth with him so he knows what to do!

Make it a game. I tell my kids, "let me see the sugar bugs" Then I say things like "OH, look that one is dancing...oh my I think that one waved at me...hello sugar bug"
Or I have tried playing the froggy game. I say "Ahomp, caught a fly. Now your turn, Ahomp you caught one too, yummy, OK again" Then you just quickly get in there and softly clean a little each time.
If they are just too young to understand then do it while they are sleeping with a warm wet rag or soft brush.
